I was talking about concerts on Facebook (My name is Wendy. I am a Facebook addict) so I thought I would post about concerts I have attended. I know you are waiting with baited breath to learn even more pointless details of my life.
The first concert I remember attending was Donnie and Marie. I was in the 2nd grade
My parents took me with them to see Dolly Parton. We sat on like the 3rd row. My dad brought his binoculars.
My mom and my friend's mom took us to see Rick Springfield in the 4th grade. Dr Noah Drake was so dreamy! I still wish that I was Jesse's Girl.
What's New Pussycat? My parents dragged me against my will took me to see Tom Jones. I threw up in the lobby. I also didn't understand why women were throwing their panties on stage.
My parents had to chance to see Elvis, but they didn't go because it was tax season (they were accountants). Then Elvis died, so they missed their chance.
My parents did go see Johnny Cash at County Hall when my mom was 18. That definitely ups their cool factor.
Don't you forget about me...I saw Simple Minds in the 9th grade. The Call was the opening act.
As a freshman in college I had the chance to go see Tom Petty in Atlanta. I regret not going to that one.
As a junior in college I did go to Atlanta to see Morrissey. That was one of the high points of my life. His opening act was a lesbian activist named something like Phrank. We stayed in the lobby and socialized during the opening set.
I college I went with my parents to see Tina Turner and Chris Isaak. My cousin and I spotted Chris in the crowd as we were looking at all the drag queens. My mom called his name, much to my mortal embarrassment. He signed my t-shirt! He is very cute.
Bill and I went with my parents to see Jimmy Buffett. I was pregnant with Katherine, but I didn't know it yet.
I've seen James Taylor twice.
I've saw Alan Jackson when Katherine was a baby.
Bill and I saw the Dave Matthews Band that same year.
In college I went to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers at a warehouse in Columbia. This was right before they hit it big. For part of the set they wore nothing but socks. The socks were not on their feet. I will leave that up to your imagination.
I saw Alice Donut on a Valentine's Day at Club Dog Alley
I saw Chris Isaak right before Kat was born. We got his autograph again.
I've been to WCW Nitro, WWE Raw, and WWE Smackdown/ECW. At Nitro we were ringside. We were so close that I saw Eddie Guerreo whipser to Chris Benoit about what move they were going to do next. We also say Sting (the wrestler, not the singer) descend from the ceiling on a cable.
And the crowning glory of my concert years was taking my cousin to see Vanilla Ice Ice Baby. I was 19.
The last concert I attended was The Wiggles when I was pregnant with the twins. I am not ashamed to admit that I had a crush on Anthony, the blue Wiggle.
At some point in my life I probably saw Waylon Jennings, because my mom was like a Waylon Jennings version of a deadhead.
There you have it. Don't you feel better now that you have read all that. Very edifying.
